SaaS transaction taxes and MoR
Calculation, collection and filing are different responsibilities.
Identify the seller
The seller under the applicable contract determines much of the transaction-tax workflow. A payment tool offering a tax calculation is not automatically the entity responsible for filing and remittance.
Read the scope
Check supported product categories, jurisdictions, B2B treatment, invoices, exemptions and refunds. A headline count of tax countries is not a list of countries where merchants can onboard.
Keep company taxes separate
An MoR’s handling of supported sales taxes does not eliminate income taxes, accounting or other obligations of your own company. Use current official guidance for the jurisdictions and facts that apply to your business.
Assign the work before comparing the price
| Task | Processor arrangement | Supported MoR sale |
|---|---|---|
| Contractual seller | Usually your business | The MoR named in the transaction agreement |
| Transaction-tax workflow | Your responsibility; tax tools can assist | Included tasks depend on the MoR agreement and supported sale |
| Company accounts and income taxes | Your business | Your business |
| Refund evidence and product support | Your team and payment provider | Your team and MoR, with roles set by contract |
Paddle’s pricing describes transaction-tax collection and remittance as part of its supported MoR service. Stripe Payments, Stripe Tax and Stripe Managed Payments are separate products: choosing a processor does not automatically choose the MoR model.

The tax calculator separates net price, tax and gross price for an entered rate. It helps check the arithmetic; choosing the legally applicable rate requires the transaction’s actual facts.
