Local payment methods for global SaaS
A method being available at checkout does not mean it supports your billing model.
Check every dimension
Method support depends on merchant market, buyer country, currency and product. A wallet logo on a page is not a promise that every seller can enable it.
Test recurring and refunds
Verify mandate creation, off-session renewals, asynchronous settlement, refund support and dispute handling. Bank transfers, direct debits, cards and wallets do not share identical behavior.
Keep the price comparable
Use the method-specific fee and settlement terms. A lower percentage can come with a different fixed charge, delay or operational workflow. Measure conversion with your own data rather than inferring it from availability.
One-time payment support is not recurring support
| Method | Recurring workflow | Check before integrating |
|---|---|---|
| UPI AutoPay | Mandate-based collection | Indian product approval, supported app/bank, mandate and charge limits |
| SEPA Direct Debit | EUR account debit with a mandate | Supported seller setup, asynchronous result and failure handling |
| Cards | Saved payment method and billing consent | Authentication, off-session rules and account/product support |
Razorpay distinguishes API-triggered recurring collection from automatically scheduled Subscriptions. Stripe’s SEPA Direct Debit documentation describes a reusable mandate workflow. Confirm the product, not just the payment-method logo.
